If you are using Netscape 3.0 or Microsoft IE 3.0, you will see the colors associated with the numbers in the following table. If you don't have one of those browser versions or higher you will not be able to see the colors in the table. The actual color you see in mIRC will depend on your color and monitor resolution.

You can also display text in Bold, Underline, and Reverse text color. Use the following key combinations to perform the operations:
Ctrl-B for Bold text
Ctrl-U for Underlined text
Ctrl-R for Reverse text
Ctrl-O for plain uncolored, normal text
If you wanted to change the background color of a word, you would need to type two numbers seperated by a comma instead of just typing in one number. The first number is the text color, and the second number is the background color. For example, to place yellow text on a red background you would do the following:
- Press Ctrl-K
- Type 8, a comma, then 4
- type the text then press enter
You can also enclose text using multiple control codes. For example, you could have text that is shown bold, underlined and colored.
If you find these new features as annoying as some people do (including me!!), you can turn them off by using the /strip command with switches. For example, to prevent colored and reverse color text from being displayed, you would type in /strip -cr. The switches are b=bold, u=underline, r=reverse, and c=color. These can also be turned on and off in the IRC Switches section of General Options.
